Our friend Christopher McDougall, a true member of the Beer Runner tribe, is back with a new book that’s just as wild as “Born to Run.” Chris was recruited to rescue a lame donkey from an animal hoarder, which sounded fine until he discovered he not only had to nurse it back to health but also give it a reason to live. How do you motivate a sick creature to start enjoying life again? Chris had no idea, so he tried the one thing he knew: he decided to make Sherman his running partner. Against all odds it began to work, and before long Chris and Sherman were heading off to one of the most grueling contests in the country: the World Championship Pack Burro Race. Take “Born to Run” and add a heroic donkey, and that’s “Running with Sherman”

Join Chris for a multi-media presentation (See Sherman in action!) at Jefferson Alumni Hall, 1020 Locust Street,  on the campus of Jefferson University. The event is FREE and includes prize giveaways including “Running with Sherman” tee shirts, tattoos, and Sherman photos autographed with his hoof!

While Sherman will not be with Chris (Sherman isn’t a fan of noisy cities) you can enter a raffle for a chance to win a signed photo of Sherman AND to run with Sherman. Prize winners will spend the afternoon at the McDougall’s farm in Lancaster, where they’ll enjoy a run on country roads with Sherman and his donkey friends, Flower and Matilda. It will also include home-cooked pizza picnic. According to Chris, his pizza got game. Winner can select up to 5 additional people to attend for a total party of 6. All proceeds will benefit the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center Social Work Emergency Fund.

Books will be available for sale on site by Joseph Fox Bookshop. Credit Card are accepted.

PLEASE NOTE: FBR will doing a pre-event run with Chris McDougall. Meet at 6:00 PM at Palmer Park for a # mile run to Jefferson Alumni Hall at 1020 Locust Street.
