For the past twelve years, the South Philly Striders and Fishtown Beer Runners have organized a run (for all runners) through the streets of South Philly to enjoy the holiday lights while collecting goods and donations for Philabundance. The run has grown into the largest free running event in the city. While we can’t set up one big event with hundreds of runners this year, we’ve kept the tradition alive by making this season’s edition, the 13th Annual SPS & FBR Holiday Lights Run, virtual.

We encourage everyone to run the route, on their own or in small groups, while keeping with local and state restrictions, from December 3rd to December 17, 2020. Our route starts and ends at Capitolo Playground (9th and Passyunk, across from Pat’s and Geno’s).

As is tradition with the Holiday Lights Run, we are having a drive to benefit Philabundance, which needs our help this year more than ever. Please donate online, by December 17, 2020, to
the following:

While doing the run, feel free to wear bells, lights, and holiday costumes. We encourage you to take photos and upload them to this Event page and on Instagram, tagging them with #holidaylightsrun
The route is 4 miles. Click here for the cue sheet:

To reach Capitolo Playground, we suggest SEPTA (the Broad Street Line stop at Ellsworth/Federal is five blocks from the start, and several SEPTA bus routes, including the 45 and the 4, let off on Wharton), Uber/Lyft, running/walking, or biking. Parking spots in the neighborhood are limited.

Please note the following important rules:
• Wear masks and socially distance, especially from others not in your small group.
• Please obey traffic rules and ONLY cross streets, particularly Broad Street or Oregon Avenue,
on green lights. We do not want any accidents or having drivers annoyed at us for crossing on
red lights.
• Please respect the neighborhood. Observe areas where there are signs to stay off the grass.
We thank you again for your support of Philabundance.
